Kirkman Studios

Tucked away along Sparky Drive, Kirkman Studios is a creative space built on over a decade of experience, bringing custom creations to life through a wide range of skills and tools.

While many unique works are produced here, The Studios’ main focus is supporting the local art community by offering high-quality, locally made, and custom-sized floating frames and stretched canvases.

In addition to providing affordable, essential art supplies, Kirkman Studios also serves as a cozy gallery showcasing local artists. Since opening, it has hosted a number of gallery shows and art sales — from solo exhibitions and collaborative showcases to serving as an Art Week bus stop venue.

Kirkman Studios is quickly becoming a vibrant hub for artists and art lovers in Grand Cayman.

Meet the owner

Owned and operated by Ethan Kirkman, a woodworker and self-taught artist from California, USA.

Ethan moved to Grand Cayman in 2016 and has since received Caymanian status and has been an active part of the local art scene since the COVID-19 era.

Often working and collaborating with renowned local artists such as Yonier Powery, Carlos V. Garcia, Iain MacRae, and Kara Julian. Ethan’s hand can be found in various art projects around the island, including Cayman Art Week.

Ethan also has his own artwork on display in Carlos V. Garcia’s gallery located at The Grove, and in his own gallery at Kirkman Studios.

In addition to the arts, Ethan creates bespoke pieces of woodwork, wood-based jewelry, Cayman themed gifts, and awards for various local events. At the forefront of these creations is the use of laser cutting and engraving, which are often employed to put a personal touch on items like cutting boards, leather goods, and even drumsticks.

Always looking to offer solutions to unique projects, the work Ethan does serves to place another block in the foundation of contemporary Caymanian culture.
